About

Ecobus is the weirdest project that the Cape Verde Islands have ever seen, and we are proud of it.  Essentially there are two major components to the operation: Ecobus Recycling, which handles collection and filtration of waste vegetable oil (WVO) from restaurants on Santiago Island, and Ecobus Transportation, which runs hourly scheduled bus service from Praia, departing from behind Igreja Nova Apostólica in Fazenda, to Assomada, departing from in front of the Tribunal / Caixa Económica.  Our buses have been adapted to run on filtered waste vegetable oil, and offer free wireless internet to all of our passengers.  Our small, gorgeous, dedicated team works hard every day to make sure that your grease doesn’t percolate the ground, and that your travels to and fro go as swimmingly as possible.

On our website and social media we tend to post in whatever language we feel like at the time, and you should do the same.  Mostly we post English and Kriolu, but occasionally in Portuguese when we want to sound important.  If you don’t understand, just ask somebody who does.  That is what friends, and strangers are for 🙂
